When Are You Coming Home? Five Practical Tips to Realizing Work / Life Balance

By Lonnie Pacelli

Tip! This should set you in a good direction if you are looking to work at home. There are more ways than this to have a home based internet business and the more you research what you want to do the more ways you'll find you can make money online.

So let's talk about over-used terms for a minute.

If you've been in the business world since the mid 1990s you've likely heard your management espouse the desire for employees to achieve greater work/life balance. Many U.S. companies have adopted programs to help employees strike a better life balance by providing health club benefits, entertainment discount programs, and additional time off for events such as the birth of a child. Despite all this, Americans are of the most overworked and flat-out busy people on earth, recently surpassing the Japanese and long surpassing the Europeans. With all this discussion of work/life balance, how can we in the U.S. also be of the most overworked people in the world? The answer is pretty simple; many of us talk work/life balance, but don't live work/life balance primarily because we don't know how to do it.

Tip! Networking is key to finding any job, and it is important in finding job that allows you to work at home as well. Tell everyone you know you are looking for freelance work.

First let's get clear on the primary purpose of achieving work/life balance. It's about minimizing stress in your life. Much of the stress in a typical person's life is derived from work. Stress also comes from non-work activities as well. You can say you've got work/life balance, but in addition to working full-time, you might participate in many activities with the kids, volunteer at the local homeless shelter, and exercise five days a week. If you're feeling stressed and tired you haven't achieved the primary intent of work/life balance, which is to reduce stress. All you have done is balanced the degree of stress you have in your work life with the stress you have in your non-work life. But at least the stress is balanced J.

To realize a practical work/life balance, consider the following tips:

Consciously (and honestly) decide what is really important - Saying that work/life balance is important is one thing; truly meaning it is a different game altogether. You may want to believe you place other things above work, but wanting to believe it simply doesn't mean it's so. Make a conscious, realistic declaration on where your priorities lie, then examine your behaviors or ask a friend, relative, significant other, or spouse. Taking the first step toward the quest for work/life balance means eliminating the gap between what you desire and what you do.

Tip! Pay per click advertising means that the consumer will be directed to your website when they click on your ad. To make pay per click work for your work at home business, you may not want to direct the consumer right to your home page.

Make your calendar a life thing, not just a work thing - Integrate important personal activities into your calendar. Examples of things to schedule include exercise, being home at a specific time for dinner, and kids' activities. Also include items such as important meetings that your spouse or significant other needs to attend which require you to be at home with the kids or to take junior to the dentist.

Measure success in results, not hours - Those who measure success based on hours worked will prioritize hours over results and tend to be less motivated to figure out how to get more work done in less time. Those who measure success based on results are more likely to figure out better ways to do things, prioritize their work, and get home in time for dinner. Don't use the clock as your gauge of success; use the results you deliver as your success yardstick.

Tip! Download the Free Work at Home Manual (Free $97 Value!) and receive valuable tips, strategies and techniques designed to grow a very successful Home Based Business.

Don't succumb to peer pressure - From our earliest years, we are exposed to peer pressure. The "I dare you's" from our youth become "Who's got a bigger house" or "Who drives a nicer car" as adults. Look, just because a peer works 18 hours a day doesn't mean he or she gets more done or is more effective. It just means that your peer chooses to run the hours race because he or she feels it is the best means to get ahead. Don't let your peers' actions pressure you to run the wrong race. Just stay focused on providing meaningful results that provide value to the organization.

Don't take on too much "life" in work/life balance - Achieving work/life balance doesn't mean you cram more and more stuff into the life side of the equation to balance out a high-octane work life. Achieving good work/life balance means doing both in moderation and minimizing the stress in your life. You could be working a 40-hour work week and still be stressed out because of the non-work activities you've committed to. Doing too much life can be just as stressful to you and your loved ones as doing too much work. Don't feel obligated or pressured to fill up every hour of your week with life activities. Doing both in moderation helps you attain the key benefit of work/life balance; a low-stress life.

Tip! MLM -- Some work at home businesses are nothing more than multi level marketing [MLM] schemes. This means you make a percentage of the sales of people you bring in to the business below you.

Realizing the quest for work/life balance means first doing some serious soul searching and coming to grips with your true life priorities. If you acknowledge you are a workaholic and don't want to change, then by all means work 18-hour days. If you do want to change, though, you need to accept the challenge head-on and get on the road to a more balanced lifestyle. You may be surprised at how your quality of life increases and how little it truly impacts your career aspirations.

Tip! There are many other names for this. The whole point of it is to work at home as a typist/data entry worker.

Work From Home Plans: System or Scam?

By Matthew Keegan

Tip! You can work from home by starting a business from scratch or joining a legitimate work at home business opportunity, affiliate program or franchise. Working at home means you can do something you enjoy, 'sack' your boss, and avoid a lot of the daily stress faced by employees.

More than likely you have seen them cropping up all over the internet: work from home schemes promising participants vast sums of money for selling a product, stuffing envelopments, clicking ads, making phone calls, etc. The plans are as varied as they are innovative. Unfortunately, many are scams meant to extract cash from your wallet and certain to leave you feeling miserable and stupid. So, just how can you make sure that a work from home plan is legitimate? By continuing to read on for some suggestions to help you avoid being cheated.

Better Business Bureau - Check with your local Better Business Bureau {BBB} to determine whether the company has had any complaints levied against it. If it is an out of state concern, check with the BBB in the area [state] where the company is based.

State Attorney General's Office -- Every state has an Office of the Attorney General and in most cases it is this office that is tasked with investigating complaints against companies. Some states allocate this responsibility to their Bureau of Consumer Affairs agency or similar department.

Online Forums, Blogs, etc. -- Google a search on the internet for the company's name and narrow the results further by including negative words such as complaint, scam, judgment, etc. If a company is up to no good, likely that information has been published somewhere. Caution: too much praise about a company could be a company "plant" placed online to create a positive spin about their operation. Conversely, bad news could be a single disgruntled person. Get as much additional and independent information before making a determination whether something you read online is actually true.

Tip! My recommendation to anyone who wants to switch to a work at home job is to talk with your current boss about whether or not you can be allowed to work from home. A broad minded boss with her finger on the pulse of the business realities today will understand that if she can't accommodate your work from home request, then you'll probably find someone else who will.

Personal Investment -- If you have to pay for the product, i.e. to receive a list of companies providing information work information, etc. this should be a warning flag to you. Any outlay of cash on your part should raise some concern.

MLM -- Some work at home businesses are nothing more than multi level marketing [MLM] schemes. This means you make a percentage of the sales of people you bring in to the business below you. Not all MLM schemes are illegal...unethical may be another matter!

In all, exercise extreme caution before agreeing to any work from home plan. If a work from home plan sounds too good to be true, than likely it is false. Ask hard questions and do not sign a contract before letting a legal professional [of your choice] review the plan.

Ethical Decision Making at Home and at Work

By Jim Roe

2006 Work At Home Jobs Directory. Directory Containing 1000 Companies Offering Work At Home Jobs.

First, a definition of Ethics: principles of human duty, rules of conduct and the duty of being honorable . Simply put: Being ethical is doing the right thing.

Much is said about Ethics and we all agree we have them. But just what is "them?" Lets tackle the business ethics first for it is simple and straight forward. The problem comes when you are asked by your supervisor to do something that you are not sure if it is the right thing to do.

LegitOnlineJobs All-In-One Work At Home. All the Cb money making opportunities in one site. Converts 1:20.

There are two parts to the business ethical question:

What to do when you are asked to do something, would your action be ethical?
When you personally have to make decisions: How do you make them ethically?

Following Orders

This part is simple. You must understand your loyalties:

Be loyal to yourself.
Next, be loyal to the company
And finally, be loyal to your supervisor.
Remember the sequence: Yourself, the company and then your supervisor.

Texas Instruments has a simple three-step rule to follow if you question the ethical merits of a directive:

If you know it is wrong, simply don't do it.
If you are not sure, ask.
Keep asking until you get an answer.

What if you are asked to do the unethical and there is no way out? You should always have "Go to hell money" available to say just that. Go to hell and let the chips fall where they may. Resigning is far superior to lowering your standards.

Making Ethical Decisions

This is a short article I wrote when I was studying ethics. First a brief history, followed by a brief outline of the ethical school I live by (Utilitarian Ethics) and then the "how-to" of making ethical decisions. It is an easy read as Word rates the article as suitable for grade eight readers.

Tip! This should set you in a good direction if you are looking to work at home. There are more ways than this to have a home based internet business and the more you research what you want to do the more ways you'll find you can make money online.

Those who specialize in the study of and write about ethics are called Ethicans. By any definition they are a strange lot. Their main occupation is criticizing other ethicans and every ethical school of thought except the ones they favor.

Ethicans attempt to create an ethical school that applies to every occasion. The search is for a unifying ethical system is much like the search for the unifying theory of physics. It may happen in physics but not in ethics. Ethics is an emotional identity attempting to present itself as a logical and rational discipline. It fails miserably.

Tip! By Deckard- a work at home college student making a good online income. Visit Deckard's work at home blog.

In addition, the ethical thinkers are not logical thinkers. They squabble amongst themselves and pass themselves off as great thinkers. If you want to read classical examples of poor writing, corrupt logic and pettiness, read the classical ethical writers. Yet they were brilliant.

For example, John Stuart Mills (1806-1873), regarded as the great proponent of Utilitarian Ethics was brilliant. By the age of seventeen he had completed advanced studies in Greek literature and philosophy, chemistry, botany, psychology and law. As a member of the British parliament he was considered a radical, as he supported such outrageous measures as public ownership of natural resources, equality for women, compulsory education, and birth control. He was one of the founders of the women's suffrage movement.

His 1863 essay on Utilitarian ethics is regarded as the cornerstone of the Utilitarian principles. It is a disgraceful example of writing. For example the opening sentence is sixty-two words long. And things only get worse. Word processing grammar checkers get serious indigestion trying to analyze it.

Since 1863 I doubt if a dozen people have read the 24,000 word document from start to finish. I am not one of them. It is a masterpiece of confusion, bad grammar, and poor punctuation while making little sense. The concept is correct, but Mill's explanation is so inept, it borders on the criminal.

In truth, the concept can be well expressed in less than five hundred words. Throw in a few examples and two thousand words would be about right. Strange, that is about the length of this essay.

I said they were crazy lot. Consider the founder of Utilitarian Ethics, Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832). He was quite a fellow: he was a child prodigy, reading serious works at age three, playing the violin at age five, and studying French and Latin at age six. He entered Oxford University at age 12, studied law, and was admitted to the bar. Quite a fellow.

Tip! An unperceived number of work at home companies require their applicants to spend their own money to place newspaper ads, make photocopies, or buy envelopes, paper, stamps, and other supplies or equipment which they will need in order to perform their jobs. Sometimes, these work at home companies may even demand that you pay an additional amount for the instructions or 'tutorial' software for training so you will be able to do your job properly.

In 1771, thirty years before the industrial revolution, Jeremy Betham invented the Panopticon. A Panopticon was to remove all privacy from prisoners by placing them behind a transparent wall encircling a guard tower.

Jeremy was so impressed with his invention he was determined to have a Panopticon as his casket and be place on public display. Certainly and odd request. But there is a difference between being odd and being disgusting.

Ladies, if you are a bit squeamish you may not want to hear this so please close your eyes. In accordance with his wishes, his body was dissected before his friends. His skeleton, fully clothed and provided with a wax head (the original being mummified), is kept in a glass case at University College, which he helped to found. He may be viewed on the Web with the picture updated every fifteen minutes.

His head was embalmed and is kept by the University.

There are about fifteen schools of ethics. Including minor variations there are untold numbers. After reviewing many of the mainstream schools, I can honestly say I have little idea of what they are talking about except for Utilitarian Ethics.

Fool that I am, I delved into Utilitarian Ethics as it made sense to apply it to my life style.

My ethical system is based on Utilitarian Ethics: the doctrine that what is useful is good, and consequently, that the ethical value of conduct is determined by the utility of the result. Loosely put, its proposition is that the supreme objective of moral action is the achievement of the greatest good for the greatest number. This objective is also considered the aim of all legislation and is the ultimate criterion of all social institutions including businesses.

Like all other ethical systems, it fails if you expect it to solve all ethical problems. No one ethical system can solve a wide range of problems ranging from government to business to individual ethical questions.

Fortunately, I have serious limitations for which I am thankful. I seek answers to my problems and opportunities. I do not have the ability nor the need to solve such issues such as abortion, euthanasia, and suicide. Nor can I solve the problems of the world. As I said, they are beyond my capabilities and for that I am thankful for my limitations.

Tip! Working from home is a different way of life from 9-5 employment and offers benefits - monetary or lifestyle that can far outweigh those found as an employee. Whether you work at home already, are thinking about it, or your life circumstances now make working from home necessary or possible, be sure to think these benefits through as you choose your employment options.

One beauty of Utilitarian Ethics is that it has only two definitions: Good and Evil. Good is defined as any individual's good feeling ranging from pleasures of the flesh to extreme self-sacrifice. Between these extremes there are included such things as material rewards. Evil is defined as harm to any individual ranging from such minor irritants such as a sliver in the finger to the evils of Hitler. Again, somewhere in there is material loss.

One last consideration: morals. You come to the table with your morals and religious beliefs. Ethics does not teach or propose a moral credo. You are who you are. If you are morally corrupt, a thief or completely uncaring, ethics is of little use to you. The only way one can improve their moral values is probably through some form of revelation.

Living by an ethical system is not in conflict with your religion or lack of it. All the mainstream religions, whether based on love or law, urge you to be good to others while minimizing evil in all its forms. Ethics simply provides a method to assist you in achieving your religious obligations of doing the right thing while minimizing evil. A religious belief is not a requirement of being ethical.

Tip! Inbound Call Centers provides detailed information on Inbound Call Centers, Inbound Call Center Services, Inbound Call Center Pricing, Work At Home Inbound Call Centers and more. Inbound Call Centers is affiliated with Live Answering Service.

Resolving ethical problems using Utilitarian Ethics has a logical almost mathematical, step-by-step approach to it.

Let's assume you want to make a business decision. If it does not affect people, there is no ethical consideration. Ethics only concerns itself with people. That does not mean your can abuse animals. Nor does it permit you to burn down you house even if you own it. Wanton destruction is unacceptable.

Is slaughtering animals for human consumption ethical? How about using animals for testing which causes them pain? I have no idea how you feel about the subject. But I do know I could not be employed in such industries, yet I benefit from their practices. As I said, I have serious limitations of my thought processes when it comes to resolving such fundamental issues.

Fortunately all those tough problems do not face me. In truth, I am not sure I could face up to them let alone resolve them.

Tip! Danni is a proud work at home mom of 3 that enjoys teaching work at home moms how to run successful home based businesses! Let Danni teach you how you can make a great income at home! Visit http://www.homebaseddream.

So on to the reality of everyday life:

Let's assume we are contemplating installing some form of safety or pollution device.

We think of three possible methods, A, B, and C. And we throw in a fourth possibility D, simply doing nothing. We make a list showing all the benefits (Good) to both ourselves and others. Now consider disadvantages (Evil) to yourself and others. Evaluate both the good and evil, not just to us, but to everyone involved. Consider employees, the shareholders, suppliers, the community, and the government.

The first test is do you benefit from any evil side effect? The test is resolved by considering what, if somehow, the evil side effects did not happen, would you still benefit? If you would benefit only if the evil event occurred, then the act is unethical. It is unethical to benefit from some form of evil inflicted on others. This test quickly determines that theft, murder, cheating, and most forms of lying are unethical acts.

Tip! Be careful when selecting a work at home MLM business opportunity. Many companies seek to rip off their customers and offer nothing but high hopes.

With the list made, consider what method has the least evils. Assuming all three methods meet your goals, only the method having the least evil is ethical. To select a method that does not minimize the evil consequences is unethical.

Let's consider the ethical merits of laying-off people for lack of work. It happens all the time. Now lack of work can range from receiving fewer orders than expected to simply running out of money, i.e. a builder lays-off his construction workers because he has run out of money. The house is still there to be completed, but there is no money. Employees are certainly harmed by the layoff. We pass the first test, as we do not benefit from their hardship.

Now consider what happens if the layoff is not made. Eventually the company will lose money, become less competitive and the problems multiply for the lack of layoffs. The result can only be that many others such as the employees, suppliers, shareholders or the community will be seriously harmed when the business fails. However unpleasant, the layoff for lack of work is ethical, not nice, but ethical.

Tip! If you see something like this, stay away from it. I specialize in helping people find work at home jobs; obviously, this isn't one that I'll be recommending to my clients.

So the method is simple. Consider all the alternatives and select the one with the least harm to all. Easier said than done.

Time passes, the act is carried out, and you or someone else thinks of a better, less evil solution to the problem or opportunity. Was the original act ethical? Yes. You tried your best to be ethical. Not being clever enough is no sin. You must learn to live with and rejoice in God's gift of your limitations.

Tip! Read the rest of the article here: Blogging for Your Work at Home Business.

More time passes. Given the identical problem there is no guarantee that the ethical decision you made in the past would be ethical now. Times change the priorities. What was important then may not be important now. What was a minor consideration then may be a major concern now.

Work At Home Jobs Directory. Find a legitimate work at home job and avoid scams.

In business we are trying to find the best balance for all: the employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers, government and the community. Demands of each change with time. For example, in recent years the governments drive for improve workplace health and safety, minimizing and controlling pollution have come to the fore. Twenty years ago they were just being thought about. Forty years ago, they were non-issues. Times change. The new balance must be found with the changing times.

Tip! For profitable Work at Home Small Business Ideas, visit http://www.yenommarketinginc.

If we pay too much for supplies and wages, our costs become excessive and we loose our competitiveness. Layoffs and perhaps business failure occurs harming all employees, the shareholders, our suppliers, customers etc.

If our wages are to low we loose good employees and their skills, endangering the business.

Our family life goes through similar changes. The balance of your influencing your children changes, demanding a rebalance of your private life. Consider the balance when the children were small to when you will have an empty nest. Both logic and Ethics demands you treat your children well. Be good to your children. Always remember: they pick your old age home.

Starting a Jewelry Business? Home Parties Are a Great Way to Sell Your Work

By Aldene Fredenburg

Tip! Networking is key to finding any job, and it is important in finding job that allows you to work at home as well. Tell everyone you know you are looking for freelance work.

Home parties have been used successfully to sell everything from cookware to naughty nighties; most of these small businesses are part of a large, organized national franchise, but the home party concept is also a perfect way for local crafters to market their wares.

If you'd like to try home parties, you need a plan. First, take a look at your inventory of jewelry; do you have enough pieces, in a large enough variety, to hold a party? Think about having coordinating pieces - necklace or pendant, earrings, rings, and bracelets, in five or six different designs. Have enough pieces of each so that you can sell the items individually or in sets.

Once you've decided what you want to sell and how many items you to need to have for sale, set a timeline for yourself, based on how long it will take you to craft the items, and then schedule your first party. If you have a friend, family member, or coworker willing to host a party for you, that's great. Otherwise, put up flyers, along with copies of your business card, and send a press release to your local paper.

Tip! Apply for regular jobs that might turn into a work at home opportunity. Many employers might be advertising for a regular office job, but might consider allowing you to work at home once you have your foot in the door.

Fill your hostess in on how you plan to run the party, and make sure she lets her guests know that you plan to have the items for sale at the party. You may want to discuss her responsibilities; most home parties have light refreshments, and she'll need enough seating for all her guests, plus a clear tabletop for you to use as a display area.

During the party, make sure your jewelry is displayed attractively, and have inexpensive but attractive door prizes so that guests have an opportunity to win a small handcrafted item. It might be enough for you to display your work, but think about working up a presentation for each collection, and show it around to guests. Another good idea is to display a portfolio of high quality, color photos of more complex, expensive gifts for special ordering. And don't forget to collect the names of guests who are interested in hosting a jewelry party of their own!

Tip! Download the Free Work at Home Manual (Free $97 Value!) and receive valuable tips, strategies and techniques designed to grow a very successful Home Based Business.

You'll want to reward your hostess for having the party, so be sure you have a thank-you gift. You may want to allow the hostess to choose her favorite piece from your jewelry collection, or you may design a graduated gift selection, with the hostess gift based on the amount of money you make at the party.

Tip! Read the rest of the article here: Blogging for Your Work at Home Business.

If you know other crafters, consider offering to sell their craft items at the party for a commission. You may even want to create a small home party cooperative with several crafters, so you can each sell your own crafts and collect a commission on everyone else's work.

Certainly more traditional selling venues - flea markets and craft fairs, gift shops, even eBay - should also be pursued, but giving a series of home jewelry parties is a great way to connect with enthusiastic customers and possibly develop a real following for your jewelry.

Work At Home Moms - Their Numbers Grow

By Cathy Bryant

Tip! These are some of the important considerations while trying to launch a work at home or any other website. Importance of RELEVANCE should be clear at stage one.

The numbers of work at home moms have increased dramatically over the last several years. There are several reasons for this phenomenon, not the least of which is the ability to use current technology not previously available.

The internet, along with a wide variety of tools, now allow moms working from home greater freedom to pursue their careers while tending to the needs of their family. In the past, mothers whose families required a second income often found it necessary to return to the work force. This required a great change in their lifestyle. They often found themselves facing long and difficult commutes, along with the emotional upheaval of leaving their precious little ones in day care.

So it is not surprising today to see more and more moms who work from home. Some moms who work at home have been able to do so by making arrangements with their employer that allows them to do most, if not all, of their job from home.

Tip! Usually, call centers have outsourced their operations to other countries. But now, because of the advancements in call center technology and the widespread availability of broadband Internet, inbound call center agents can now work at home.

Others have left the outside job market entirely to pursue a home based business. Some have found success in the more traditional direct sales businesses that have been around for many years.

But internet marketing has also opened up opportunities for mothers to work at home. Setting up a website and marketing via affiliate programs has opened up possibilities unheard of for previous generations of stay at home moms. As more and more young mothers yearn for the freedom from the rat race, they look toward technology and the internet specifically to release them from the need to pursue employment outside the home.

Work At Home Jobs Directory. Find a legitimate work at home job and avoid scams.

As this new generation of mothers learns that working outside the home is not as glamorous or as fulfilling as they have often been led to believe, more and more of them, both married and single, are turning to technology to earn an income from home while allowing them to be available to their children.

As technology advances, no doubt we will see more and more mothers who take advantage of the opportunities provided in this new marketplace. The freedom to stay at home with their children is a gift that they have been given, and many young mothers are taking full advantage of it.

No doubt their numbers will continue to grow.

Down-sized? Under-employed? Or would you just like to add to your present income? Then you need to visit http://www.homebizjunction.com to discover all the possibilities for creating an income from the comfort of your home. Learn how to escape the rat race once and for all!

Work at Home Jobs Vs Self Employment

By Randy Ray

Tip! For valuable Work at Home Small Business Ideas, visit: http://www.yenommarketinginc.

Work at Home Jobs vs Owning a Home Based Business

Not everyone is interested in owning their own home business, but a lot of people are interested in dropping out of the rat race a little bit. More and more jobs are available where you can work from home. And since your productivity will probably be better working from home, you'll probably make more money. The other advantage is that it doesn't cost as much money to work from home, since you no longer have commuting expenses, lunches out expenses, or the same clothing expenses. These are big advantages.

Just because you don't want to own your own home based business doesn't mean you can't work from home. All it involves in a change in mindset and some effort.

Tip! Download the Free Work at Home Manual (Free $97 Value!) and receive valuable tips, strategies and techniques designed to grow a very successful Home Based Business.

Recommended Reading

If you're interested in learning more about this way of thinking, there are a few books you should probably take a look at. I highly recommend Joe Dominquez's book Your Money or Your Life. This book will give you a completely different perspective on how much money you're making driving to and from your 9-to-5 every day.

Another pair of great books are Die Broke and Live Rich, which are both written by Stephen Pollan and Mark Levine. These two books will also help you redefine your own personal ideas about work and how it fits into your life.

Recommendations About Working from Home

It would be relatively easy at this point to list several work-at-home job opportunities and call this a finished article, but the reality of the 21st century workplace is that telecommuting and working from home are becoming more and more commonplace. And almost ANY job can be done from home now.

My recommendation to anyone who wants to switch to a work at home job is to talk with your current boss about whether or not you can be allowed to work from home. A broad minded boss with her finger on the pulse of the business realities today will understand that if she can't accommodate your work from home request, then you'll probably find someone else who will.

Tip! Business spread around the world is work's best reputation and to deal with different people and making them convinced is part of creating self reputation in front of world. Work at home is the unique type good reputation work as you get chance to be 'global business owner' by using technology to do work.

If that doesn't work out, all you have to do is start looking for work. Any of the many get a job or find employment sites out there are going to have work from home jobs available as well as more traditional jobs. All you have to do is seek them out.

Another Look at Owning Your Own Business

But don't rule out starting your own home based business either. Many people find this more satisfying than working for someone else, and they wind up making more money than they ever thought possible. That was my experience, and it was also my wife's.

Tip! The best investment you can make for yourself is a quality resume. There will be many applicants for work at home jobs.

As far as I'm concerned, the best work from home job is the one where you're your own boss.

The author of this article works from home, and owns and operates a website about paid surveys, where you can read reviews of some paid survey websites like Survey Scout and Survey Platinum.

Tip! First, you could apply to work for a job at a major company that you know employs work at home personnel. Some of these companies include JetBlue airlines, Dell, OfficeDepot.

Tip! Inbound Call Centers provides detailed information on Inbound Call Centers, Inbound Call Center Services, Inbound Call Center Pricing, Work At Home Inbound Call Centers and more. Inbound Call Centers is affiliated with Live Answering Service.

My recommendation to anyone who wants to switch to a work at home job is to talk with your current boss about whether or not you can be allowed to work from home. A broad minded boss with her finger on the pulse of the business realities today will understand that if she can't accommodate your work from home request, then you'll probably find someone else who will.

As far as I'm concerned, the best work from home job is the one where you're your own boss.

The Top Ten Worst Work at Home Scams Part 2

By Marsha James

Tip! The best thing about blogging for your work at home business is that you are also able to offer others the benefit of your expertise. If you are a consultant or information-based work at home business, you can bring consumers to you as they look for know-how on the internet.

6. Make Lots of Money Taking Surveys

You probably get one of these in your email a week. Sign up for free or for a few of them a fee, and you will soon earn a steady income just filling out surveys. It is true that people used to make money doing this. Not enough to quit there jobs and pay there bills but $30-$100 or more a month. With the influx of people surfing the internet trying to get a buck anywhere they can, this is no longer the case. If it were that easy to make money everyone would quit there jobs and do it and companies wouldn't be making much money. The sites are still there, but now most of them put you in a raffle to earn "cool stuff" not money. Other's will put you in a raffle to some money. But what are the chances of you winning. And what are the chances of you winning more than once a year? That is not steady income. The ones that do say they will pay you, up up $30 or more for a survey, leave something out. You will sit and wait for that email telling you that you have a survey, but you more than likely will never get one. Or even better you get one, and after filling out 3 or 4 questions such as age, sex, location, and yearly salary, you will quickly find out your not what there looking for. Other's will slam your email with surveys that pay 10 cents if your lucky. At the end if you can get even $20 a month on surveys then your still stuck, because many will only mail out checks of $25-$100 dollars, so it would be months before you get the money, IF you get it at all.

Tip! These are some of the important considerations while trying to launch a work at home or any other website. Importance of RELEVANCE should be clear at stage one.

7.Customer Service

There are companies out there who you will apply free to work for them as a customer service rep, from your home. It seems legitimate because you didn't have to pay a fee, the website looks professional, which it usually is and you'll be earning an income and you don't have to sell anything. The fine print is, you have just applied to be a telemarketer. I myself just last year read over the entire site and in the end all the information and FAQ informed me that I would be making no cold calls, or outgoing calls. I would be taking incoming calls from people who are customers. That much was true. However the last phone call between me and my representative/manager I am informed that I will need to pay $29.99 a month for the phone fees and but I'll make it back with my commissions. Fee and commissions all in the same sentence about a job that wasn't telemarketing. Yes I would be receiving calls from customers, and I would be getting a salary but what you don't find out til you apply and are accepted is that you will be making maybe $2.00/hr if your lucky and you will be trying to get a bigger income by pushing extra products on there customers who are calling for help. You also don't know that when the customer calls and goes down the line of being transferred to you, they are already inundated with so many product ads from other phones workers and automated wait commercials that they will be cursing a blue streak at you, and good luck making an income. There are actually a handful of companies online who are hiring customer service reps. But just like the true typist jobs, many want someone with experience. They don't want someone who can't take care of their customer. And there are others who will train you if you have no experience but are someone they are looking for. There are a few, but it's hard finding them amid all the telephone job scams out there.

Tip! Therefore, in real estate, location is of the utmost importance, but what about in business, what three words can be used to ensure that work at home businesses are and remain successful. The answer may not be surprising; the three words that are of utmost importance just as in the real estate business are Marketing Marketing - Marketing.

8. The Instant Online Business

You pay a sometimes huge fee and you can be making money in minutes. Or so they claim. Many of these sites are just selling you an ebook "telling" you how to start your own no fail work at home business. The website is filled with pictures of people on the beach, and yacht's having fun. There are the testimonials from people who they say already bought the book and made so much money in a short time. All you need to do is press the x on your browser and get off that site. The only person who is going to make money is the one selling that expensive ebook. There are books out there with real information that will help you. But people have to remember that the internet is big and most of these sites are selling what you can find for free other places. Plus starting an internet business is not easy and it's not quick. For some it took years before they really started earning an income that allowed them to live comfortably. For others they had to quit after losing hundred's of thousands of dollars. Online business creation companies will make you a website and tell you your good to go. You only have one problem, it's not hard to create a website, there are billions of them. The biggest problem of any internet business is getting traffic and sales. Neither happen overnight even with the best website and product.

Tip! Business spread around the world is work's best reputation and to deal with different people and making them convinced is part of creating self reputation in front of world. Work at home is the unique type good reputation work as you get chance to be 'global business owner' by using technology to do work.

9. Medical Transcriptionist/Medical Billing

There are ads all over from the hundred's that come up in search engines to the dozens that are emailed to you on any given month.

10. Craft Assembly

Even as I was doing research for this article I came across a message board where many people were responding to an ad that went like this:

"Work from home, no experience necessary. Make over $3000 a month." Medical transcription is actually a legitmate business but it takes a lot of hard work to get it going. The ads will tell you how easy it is. You pay them and mostly get a floppy disk or papers and that's it. All you find out is that you need to call doctor's offices to see if any of them will hire you. The fees are usually outrageous as well anywhere from $300 to well over $1000 for there "software" and just like the data entry, it's the only thing you can use. There are real places hiring transcriptionists online, however the no experience rule you see some advertise is a good indicator that they are a scam. You need experience, you need to know all of the coding and medical language. Would you want someone typing up your file who doesn't understand what there typing, and make key mistakes that could endanger your life? It should also be noted that the scammers have also extended the scam by creating "schools", for you to pay them and get a degree by doing a home course which is actually not a real certificate. To become a real certified Medical Transcriptionist you need to go to American Association for Medical Transcription and read all about the Medical Transcription Certification Program (MTCP).Work At Home! I was so very disturbed to see over 50 people giving out there emails while begging for more information on this. Stay away from it unless you have done the work of really checking a company out and even then I would pass, because there are simply only a handful that are legitimate and I have NEVER even stumbled across them as of yet.

Tip! I have had the good fortune to be quite successful with home-based internet businesses. No, that is not completely accurate, I have had success because I have invested a lot of sweat equity in my work at home business activities.

Craft Assemly, I saved the worst for last because the ones who run these ads online and offline, are right at the bottom of the scum bucket. There are 3 types of scammers for this one.

Crappy Materials - With all 3 types of companies it is usually the same.

LegitOnlineJobs All-In-One Work At Home. All the Cb money making opportunities in one site. Converts 1:20.

Type1 sends out an ad. You respond to the ad and they want money from you, but don't worry it's "refundable". The amount of money is many times over a $1000, and they will tell you it's to weed out the people who aren't serious as well as to cover the cost of the materials. You will need to get expensive equipment such as a sewing machine or a machine to make signs. You of course have to get everything from their company because they need to make sure that you are using only the finest materials and equipment. You get the package and the materials are crap to say the least, the instructions are hardly understandable and you are left struggling to up together the dolls, aprons, crafts and other items. Your only problem is many of these so called "companies" are a P.O. Box which the owners have closed up and moved on. You are left with products that you will probably toss or have to sell yourself. End result all they were selling were the machines, that's where these people make there money from, not the "crafts" they want you to build.

Tip! First, you could apply to work for a job at a major company that you know employs work at home personnel. Some of these companies include JetBlue airlines, Dell, OfficeDepot.

Type 2 is the same except you send them in the products and they tell you that the product is not up to there standards. They are right, after all with the shoddy materials they sent who can make a quality item? Congradulations, they have your money and that's about it. End result, they too have your money from the products you "had" to buy only from them.

Type 3 well, they are simply the worst of this little trinity. Everything goes the same as type 1 except that they might actually send good materials. You send back the finished product and you get a response saying that the product isn't up to there standards. Unlike Type 2, the product is usually good and they sell it, while they make you think they tossed it in the garbage because it was just so awful. They have the money from the machines and your crafts and you get the unpleasant experience of being scammed.

There they are for now. Unfortunately there are so many scams out there that was only the tip of the iceberg. The best advice I can give is to use common sense. If someone is telling you that you will make $10,000 a month, shut the door in there face, close the webpage, or hang up on them. Also be very wary of an ad that promises a lot but gives you virtually no information on what you are supposed to be doing.
